End Of Year Good News

Great news from the audiobook area!

Scott O’Neill had completed production on Jackie Blue – A Justice Security Novel!

Now, as I’ve mentioned here in previous entries, the book must go through the audiobook company’s “validation” process before it’s available for sale.  That takes two to four weeks, but it will pass quickly!

From my works available right now, that leaves only If You Could Read My Mind – A Nicholas Turner Novel and The Little Drummer Boy – A Justice Security Short Story remaining to be produced.  If You Could Read My Mind is being produced by Scott O’Neill, and The Little Drummer Boy is being produced by Patrick Peterson.

I should hear sometime in late January from Glimmer Train Press about the four short stories, and also from Harlequin about Don’t Come Around Here No More.  Either way, 2014 will give you, the reader, a novel, a novella, and four short stories to whet your appetite.  It’s possible that I could complete a second novel by the end of the year…but we’ll have to see what happens.

Meanwhile, keep your eyes posted for updates on the audiobooks…and…

What A Year!

This year, 2013, is rapidly drawing to a close.

I hope that, with this blog, you have been able to use what I’ve offered here to begin writing, and that you have grown more confident and comfortable with what you’ve written.

One of the best things about writing is that no matter what you write, somebody somewhere will read it, and enjoy it, and look forward to more from you.  It doesn’t matter whether it’s fiction, nonfiction, or instructional.

2013 has been a productive year for me.  I’ve finished six short stories, a novella, a novel, and have several thousand words written for two other novels.  I began this blog, both to promote my work, and to encourage you to begin writing.  This year has also seen the production of my writings into audiobooks, with two talented narrators taking the reins of these stories, and bringing them to life.

I offer my heartfelt thanks to both of those narrators, Scott O’Neill and Patrick Peterson, for the wonderful jobs they have done.

Scott O’Neill has produced Someone Saved My Life Tonight and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, and is working on Jackie Blue and If You Could Read My Mind.

Patrick Peterson has produced Mama Told Me Not To Come and The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald, and is working on The Little Drummer Boy.

Still to come for your reading pleasure are these titles:  Gold, Saturday In The Park, Hot Child In The City, MacArthur Park, and Don’t Come Around Here No More.

Coming novels include Junior’s Farm and Hell’s Bells.

I had decided that after I finished The Little Drummer Boy, I was going to take a break until after the first of the year.  I don’t think I can make it that long, so I probably will be writing on Junior’s Farm within the next couple of days.

Most of all, I’d like to thank you, the reader, with a hearty, grateful shout!  Without you opening your wallet and spending your hard-earned money on my books and stories, I would be mostly writing to please myself.

The best advice for the new year that I can offer is:

A Couple Of Christmas Gifts For You

It’s Christmas Eve.

It’s been a hectic few days in this writer’s world.  Getting ready for Christmas is a very busy time!

I did receive an early Christmas gift yesterday, and I want to share it with you:  When Patrick Peterson completed the audiobook for Mama Told Me Not To Come – A Justice Security Novel, it had to go through a “verification” process with the audiobook company.  It was explained to me that they check audio levels, etc….all sorts of technical aspects of the audio produced by Patrick.  It wasn’t expected to be done before mid-January.

Yesterday, much to my surprise, I received an email saying that “verification” was completed, and the book was available at Audible.com and Amazon.com, and soon at iTunes!

So, if you are an audiobook fan, and want to experience the first Justice Security novel as done by the talented Patrick Peterson, here’s the link to Amazon.com:

Another story that I’d like for you to enjoy  is The Little Drummer Boy – A Justice Security Short Story.  This one was written as a Christmas gift to YOU, my loyal readers.  It has both a print edition, and a Kindle edition.  Here’s the Kindle link:

And here’s the link to the print edition:

Please take a moment to check the story out.  I think it will give you an entertaining and uplifting read.

Meanwhile, I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas…and a happy and prosperous New Year!

More News About "The Little Drummer Boy"

I’ve had a busy couple of days.

Yesterday, I had to accompany my dad to Nashville while he had some surgery on his arm.

Today, or, rather, this afternoon (Wednesday, December 19, 2013), my wife and I had to run errands and shop a bit.

Also, I’ve had some praise on Facebook about The Little Drummer Boy – A Justice Security Short Story.  A reader that I graduated from high school thanked me for “…your latest short story.  Very moving!”

I’m very pleased that people are enjoying the story.

Now, more good news:  Our Audiobook buddy, Patrick Peterson, will be doing the honors for the audio version of The Little Drummer Boy.  Although it won’t be ready for listeners until probably February, it still is exciting news!

On other fronts, I hope that during this holiday season, even all the way through New Year’s Day, you continue to practice your writing.  Even a sentence a day brings progress, and makes you realize that what you write is worthwhile and entertaining.

That’s all I can think of today, on this late and abbreviated entry.  Meanwhile,

The Little Drummer Boy - A Justice Security Short Story

It’s done.

And just in time!

The Little Drummer Boy – A Justice Security Short Story is finished, and on Amazon.com for Kindle right now.  It’s also long enough to make a paperback book containing just the short story.  The paperback probably won’t be available until late tonight (December 17, 2013) or tomorrow, but the ebook edition is here!

Here’s the synopsis:

“It’s Christmas Eve in the city.

Dexter Beck, his wife Megan, and Percival “King Louie” Washington are driving to a special Christmas Eve function.

Louie and Dexter share with Megan a story of another Christmas Eve in the early days of Justice Security, when the fledgling company is providing security for the band, Omega.  Omega is in town to perform at a special Christmas Eve charity concert.

Louie and Dexter are driving the drummer, Gil Mullins, to the concert, when the worst blizzard ever to hit the city forces them to abandon their car and take refuge inside St. Francis Catholic Church.

What follows is a story of salvation, comfort, and belief, as a Christmas Eve event repeats itself…and makes a believer of Megan Fisk Beck.

Inspired by the popular Christmas song, The Little Drummer Boy will warm your heart…and make you believe.
